PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a spectral image with high resolution.SOLUTION: An image pickup element D1 comprises: a coding element C arranged on an optical path of light coming from an object, and including a plurality of regions with first light transmissivity and a plurality of regions with second light transmissivity lower than the first light transmissivity; a spectroscopic element P arranged on an optical path of part of light passing through the coding element C and spatially shifting the part of the light depending on the wavelength; and at least one image pickup element (S1, S2) which is arranged so as to receive light passing through the spectroscopic element P and light not passing through the spectroscopic element P, and which acquires a first image in which components for each wavelength of the light spatially shifted by the spectroscopic element P are superimposed and a second image formed of the light not passing through the spectroscopic element P.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
