ENDOLUMINAL SLEEVE GASTROPLASTY

Devices and methods of endolumenal formation of gastric sleeves are described. Some embodiments allow templating of a gastric sleeve by a gastric bougie, exposing a selected amount of tissue for suturing access, while maintaining sufficient internal working space for suturing within the template lumen.

1. A bougie for shaping a portion of a stomach to define suturing locations for formation of a gastric passageway for food, the bougie comprising:
(a) a wall defining a longitudinal lumen, and having an exterior surface sized and shaped to be insertable to the stomach in a position defining the gastric passageway for food along an extent and around a circumference of the bougie; (b) a plurality of spaced wall fenestrations longitudinally distributed along the wall and along the extent of the bougie defining the gastric passageway, and sized to receive and position a predetermined thickness of gastric tissue for suturing by a needle passing within the lumen and radially near the wall; and wherein a geometry of at least some of said fenestrations is modifiable while said bougie is positioned in said stomach for formation of the gastric passageway for food.
