摘要 Provided is a method of fabricating a shaft sealing device, in which a plurality of thin plate pieces arranged in a circumferential direction of a rotation shaft are provided and base ends of the thin plate pieces are mutually connected, the method including a stacking step of stacking the plurality of thin plate pieces in one direction, a connecting step of mutually connecting the base ends of the plurality of stacked thin plate pieces to form a stacked body, and a first smoothing step of bringing one lateral end surface of two lateral end surfaces of the stacked body formed by each end portion in a width direction of the plurality of thin plate pieces in contact with a flat surface to smooth the other lateral end surface.

A method of fabricating a shaft sealing device with a plurality of thin plate pieces arranged in a circumferential direction of a rotation shaft, each thin plate piece having first and second lateral end portions on respective opposite ends of the thin plate piece in a width direction, the width direction corresponding to an axial direction of the rotation shaft, base ends of the thin plate pieces being mutually connected, the method comprising: stacking the plurality of thin plate pieces in one direction; mutually connecting the base ends of the plurality of the stacked thin plate pieces to form a stacked body having first and second lateral end surfaces on respective opposite ends of the stacked body in the width direction, the first lateral end surface of the stacked body being formed by the first lateral end portions of the thin plate pieces, and the second lateral end surface of the stacked body being formed by the second lateral end portions of the thin plate pieces; and smoothing one of the first and second lateral end surfaces of the stacked body with the other of the first and second lateral end surfaces of the stacked body being abutted to a flat surface.
