摘要 Provided are a light-emitting instrument and an image display device that use an AlON phosphor and that have a wide color gamut. This light-emitting instrument is provided with at least: a light-emitting light source that emits light that has a wavelength of 410 nm to 470 nm inclusive; and a phosphor or a light-transmitting body in which a phosphor is dispersed. The phosphor includes an inorganic compound that contains, in AlON crystals, AlON solid solution crystals, or inorganic crystals that have the same crystal structure as AlON, at least Mn and, as necessary, an A element (the A element being a monovalent metal element), a D element (the D element being a divalent metal element), an E element (the E element being a monovalent anion), and a G element (the G element being one or more element other than Mn, A, Al, O, N, D, or E). As a result of being irradiated with an excitation source, the phosphor emits fluorescence that has a peak wavelength that is in the range of 515 nm to 541 nm.
