PURPOSE:To decrease spot-like irregularity in the luminance caused by mixing of foreign matter represented by a minute pieces peeled from human body into a liquid crystal cell by adding a compd. having alkylcarbonyloxy groups into a liquid crystal layer and/or oriented film. CONSTITUTION:As for the compd. having alkylcarbonyloxy groups, for example, a fatty acid ester compd. such as methyl caproate and ethyl caproate are used. By adding this compd. into the liquid crystal compsn. and/or oriented films, generation of irregularity in the luminance due to mixing of foreign matter into the liquid crystal cell can be decreased. The compounding amt. of the compd. is preferably 0.1 to 1wt.% for the liquid crystal compsn. and 0.1 to 5wt.% for the oriented film. It is not preferable to add the compd. by over 1wt.% for the liquid crystal compsn. and over 5wt.% for the oriented film because the temp. range for the liquid crystal phase of the liquid crystal compsn. decreases and the film forming property of the oriented film such as polyimide decreases. |
