The invention relates to a method for creating and storing user-specific operating menus of a radio receiver (1), especially a car radio, and to a corresponding radio receiver (1) for carrying out the inventive method. According to this method, at least one predetermined storage area (10, 11, 12) is addressed and at least one operating function (70,..., 75) of the radio receiver (1) is invoked, preferably by a menu-driven process. At least one storage location (15,....., 20) is addressed within the at least one predetermined storage area (10, 11, 12). The at least one operating function is stored in the at least one storage location (15,....., 20). The inventive radio receiver (1) comprises a display device (25) and selection buttons (30, ..., 35), said selection buttons being allocated to individual operating functions (70, ..., 75). An operating element (40) by which means at least one predetermined storage area (10, 11, 12) can be addressed, is also provided. Storage locations (15,....., 20) in the at least one predetermined storage area (10, 11, 12) can be addressed by means of the selection buttons (30, ..., 35). At least one operating function (70, ..., 75) of the radio receiver (1) can be stored in the correspondingly addressed storage location (15,.....,20) in the at least one predetermined storage area (10, 11, 12) by activating the operating element (40) and a given selection button (30, ..., 35).
