The workpiece consists of plastics and has at least two sections (1) which have the same size and are joined together by stud links (3) or by a pre-embossed intended break line. The dimensions of the workpiece correspond to that of a cheque card and each of its section has at least one aperture (4). In the sections, preferably at their edges, palpable shape components in the form of cavities are provided. The abutting edges of two sections may be formed as hinges and two edges of adjacent sections are formed as supplementary parts of a closure. In the sections, parts of an electronic device may be fitted and in the machine used to produce cheque cards for manufacturing blank workpieces a rolling or stamping station is provided for embossing an intended break line.
