<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To need a high speed CPU for handling a great amount of data. SOLUTION: There is disclosed a thermal head 18 for printing a digital image in a line of multi-bit pixels. The thermal head 18 has multiple groups of thermal resistors which can be addressed in parallel by corresponding multiple shift registers and pulses are applied to the thermal head 18 plural times so as to print one line of image. The thermal head 18 is controlled by generating a developed bit table 56 based on one line of digital image data. The table 56 includes multiple rows (one row corresponding to each bit of multi-bit pixel) and each row has plural multi-bit words (one bit corresponding to each shift register) each representing a significant bit corresponding to one line of image data. Each row of the table 56 is transmitted to the shift register and pulses are applied to the thermal head 18. The transmission and application of the pulses are repeated corresponding to the weight of a binary of the multi-bit pixel.</p> |
