PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stably provide a magnetic recording medium having excellent electromagnetic transducing characteristics and excellent in repetitive durability, in the magnetic recording medium having <=7μm total thickness. SOLUTION: A magnetic recording tape is characterized in that in the magnetic recording medium having 7μm total thickness and formed by providing a lower layer non-magnetic layer including an inorganic powder and a bonding agent on a substrate, an upper layer magnetic layer formed by dispersing a ferromagnetic powder in a bonding agent on the lower layer non-magnetic layer and a back layer on the opposite structure of the substrate, the substrate is made of an aromatic polyamide, a crystalline has 1.5-3.0 nm size and the cross sectional surface of the magnetic recording tape has end face shapes of +0.2-(-1.0)μm projecting quantity of the back layer in one end face and +0.2-(-0.2)μm projecting quantity of the magnetic layer in the other end face.
