PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel magnesium alloy excellent in moldability when formed into a thin-wall molding by high-velocity pressure casting such as die casting or squeeze casting, strengths, and corrosion resistance, excellent in molding finishability, and desirable as a constituent material of a portable devices such as note type personal computers, mobile phones, digital cameras, and PDAs, and to provide a molding prepared by molding the magnesium alloy. SOLUTION: The magnesium alloy comprises 10.0 to 15.0 wt.% Al, 0.3 to 1.5 wt.% Zn, 0.1 to 0.4 wt.% Mn, at most 3.0 wt.% Ca, and at most 1.2 wt.% Sr (provided that the case in which the Ca content is at most 0.8 wt.%, and the Sr content is at most 0.7 wt.% is excluded), with the balance Mg and unavoidable impurities.
