PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polycyclic lactone compound without containing impurities caused by a reducing agent used in its production processes, and as a result capable of performing its stable industrial production, and a (meth)acrylate compound having the polycyclic lactone structure. SOLUTION: This polycyclic lactone compound containing≤500 ppm content of elements selected from the 13-14th group in the periodic table is expressed by general formula (1) [wherein, R1, R2are each independently H or a≥1 C and≤12C alkyl; and (n) is 0 or 1].
