PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a non-branched, straight carbon microtube having submicrometer-size outer and inner diameters and a nano-size or submicrometer-size thickness, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In this manufacturing method of a carbon microtube, a carbon microtube having submicrometer-size outer and inner diameters and a nano-size or submicrometer-size thickness, is manufactured by mixing a carbon minute powder in a solution of a transition metal salt and vaporizing its solvent, and after drying, the mixed powder is fired in an inactive atmosphere at a temperature not lower than the melting temperature of the transition metal but lower than 3,000°C, and carbonized and deposited.
