<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent wasteful blanks from forming as the result of poster printing (split and expanded printing). <P>SOLUTION: The user calls a setting screen of an output paper setting part 22 of a printer driver 20 from a user interface of an application 10 and sets the size of each sheet of output paper and an alignment pattern. Based on these settings, the output paper setting part 22 calculates the vertical and horizontal sizes of a resulting poster and reports the sizes to the application 10. The application 10 sets the reported sizes as the page sizes of a document to be edited and edits the document according to the user's operation. When the user instructs printing to be started, a document size determining part 24 of the printer driver 20 determines if the document to be printed is the subject of poster printing; if it is the subject of poster printing, a print data splitting process part 26 splits the page of the document into units of the output paper size and causes a printer 30 to execute printing for each unit. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
