<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a radio communication system enabling safe firmware downloading and updating without influencing ordinary data communication, and a firmware updating method for a radio communication terminal station in the radio communication system. <P>SOLUTION: A CPU 25 performs arithmetic operation of a variety of data and control processing, for example, control of data conversion processing performed in an upper layer interface 27, concretely, control of conversion processing to an upper layer performed when transmitting data from a wireless LAN card 20 to a mobile terminal main body 6, and oppositely, conversion processing to a lower layer performed when transmitting data from the mobile terminal main body 6 to the wireless LAN card 20. Also, the CPU 25 performs processing for reading and executing firmware program recorded in a memory 21 or 22.
