A headrest lifting apparatus of a vehicle seat is provided to prevent a head of a passenger from being pushed back by lifting up a headrest with high pressure gas at a collision or in overturning, to protect the head of the passenger by restricting a roof panel from being infiltrated in turning over the vehicle, and to reduce the weight by moving the headrest up with high pressure gas and elastic force of a spring. A headrest lifting apparatus includes a headrest unit(1) having a moving headrest(3) lifted up and inserted to a fixing headrest(2) formed in an upper part of a backrest of a seat(S), and a lifter moving up and the moving headrest in sensing impact over the predetermined value at a collision or overturn of a vehicle. The lifter has a lifting member(5) contained in a cushion(4) supporting a head of a passenger and composed of insert manifold pipes, an ECU(electronic control unit) deciding the size of the vehicle and detecting the overturn of the vehicle according to signals from a roll over sensor, and a gas generator(10) moving up the lifting member by ejecting high pressure gas through an igniter(9) according to control signals from the ECU. The gas generator is placed in the middle of the lifting member to apply lifting force evenly from gas pressure. |
