PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for an engine, including a cooling water circulation system in which a heat exchanger circulation passage and another circulation passage are provided separately, for reducing a load on a motor pump provided in the heat exchanger circulation passage.SOLUTION: The cooling device for an engine includes a first circulation passage including a heat exchanger side flow path connected to an in-cylinder-head flow path and passing through a heat exchanger for heating fluid, and the motor pump, a second circulation passage including an external flow path adapted to be connected to the in-cylinder-head flow path and passing through the external of a cylinder head, and an engine powered pump, flow path connection means for cancelling connection between the in-cylinder-head flow path and the external flow path for a predetermined period after starting warming-up, and for making the connection between the in-cylinder-head flow path and the external flow path after the predetermined period passes, and a sucking-out mechanism provided in a connection area between the heat exchanger side flow path and the in-cylinder-head flow path for, in the state in which the connection between the in-cylinder-head flow path and the external flow path are made by the flow path connection means, sucking out cooling water from the heat exchanger side flow path into the in-cylinder-head flow path using the flow of the cooling water flowing in the in-cylinder-head flow path.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
