The drive unit for a magnetic disc memory of the type used with computer systems is produced as a module that is supported on flexible vibration absorbing mounts (3,4) at a number of points. Each mounting has an insert of an elastomer material that is of circular cross section with an outer groove (10) that fits around the edges of a plate hole for retention. Support pins (3) are inserted through the hole in the elastomer mount and the end (30) is threaded into the main housing. The elastomer absorbs energy when the housing is subjected to a shock load. ADVANTAGE - Protects disc drive against shock loads.
