PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mark detector capable of imparting stable mark detectability over a long term by preventing the mark detectability from lowering due to contamination, e.g. adhesion of ink. SOLUTION: N or S polarity of a part on a magnetic scale 24 magnetized as a mark is detected by means of a magnetic sensor 23 provided at a carriage section 21 and ink ejecting operation at a recording head section 2 is controlled by counting detection signals of the magnetized parts.
