PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of a cylinder head cover with a breather chamber in the axial direction of a cylinder, reduce the size of a cylinder head in the radial direction of the cylinder, and increase the degree of freedom of the layout of the breather chamber while easily securing the sufficient capacity of the breather chamber. SOLUTION: In this internal combustion engine, the breather chamber 60 to which a blow-by gas is led is formed in the cylinder head cover 4a in which a valve system chamber storing a valve gear 30 is formed in association with the cylinder head 3a joined to the cylinder 1a. A part of the breather chamber 60 is extended to the outside from the outer peripheral surface 11a of the seal surface 11 of the cylinder head cover 4a with the cylinder head 3 as viewed from the axial direction A1 of the cylinder.
