PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a molten metal holding furnace, wherein a stored molten metal can be uniformly heated, and further, maintenance is facilitated. SOLUTION: The molten metal holding furnace 1 has a bottom wall 13a and side walls 13b for storing the molten metal, formed of a refractory material 13 lining a casing 11. The bottom wall 13a is provided with: an insertion hole 132 communicated with the outside of a furnace body 10; and a heating element 30 to be attachably/detachably inserted into the insertion hole 132.
