PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new polishing apparatus capable of easily and inexpensively polishing a polishing object composed of a non-magnetic material without much restrictions.SOLUTION: The polishing apparatus comprises s polishing tool 10 and a polishing agent 20 applied onto the polishing tool 10. The polishing agent 20 includes: a plurality of spheres 21 composed of a magnetic material; a liquid binder 22 adhering like a film to the surface of each of the plurality of spheres 21; and a plurality of abrasive grains 23 comprising non-magnetic materials retained by the liquid binder 22 while dispersed on the surface of each of the spheres 21. In the vicinity of the surface of the polishing tool 10, a magnetic field is created by formation of a pair of magnetic poles in the polishing tool in such a way that the magnetic poles go out from a part of the surface of the polishing tool 10 and returns to the other part of the surface of the polishing tool 10, and a magnetic cluster is formed in the polishing agent 20 by magnetic attraction of the plurality of spheres 21 to the polishing tool 10. Even when in polishing work, such a state that the magnetic cluster is formed by the magnetic field only is maintained.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
