The present invention relates to a method for inspecting a foreign substance on a surface, and more specifically, to a method for inspecting a foreign substance on a surface which photographs a foreign substance attached to a flat surface and a rear surface of a display panel and a polarizing film using a camera, and compares the foreign substance with previously stored property information of the foreign substance using an image to accurately detect a type and a position of the foreign substance to provide a user with information. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the method for photographing an image of a surface of a display panel or a polarizing film using a line scan camera and inspecting a foreign substance comprises: a step of allowing a line scan camera to photograph a surface of an inspection target to acquire an image; a step of analyzing a surface state from the image to recognize a foreign substance; a step of extracting information of the foreign substance when the foreign substance is recognized in the image, and comparing the information of the foreign substance with previously stored information data of the foreign substance to detect a type of the foreign substance; and a step of displaying the detected type and a position of the foreign substance to a user. |
