PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image high in quality by preventing the reduction of image density caused by a retransfer, that is, the reshifting of toner to a photoreceptor, at the time of performing a transfer, in the case superimposed/ transferred images of plural colors are formed by performing plural times of transfers onto a transfer medium. SOLUTION: A light irradiation means for destaticizing the photoreceptor with light, in a region where the transfer medium is separated from the photoreceptor is provided. The light irradiation means is arranged at a fixed angle with the tangent of the photoreceptor to the transfer medium, so as to attain irradiation with the light, within the limits of the downstream side from a range where an electric discharge occurs between the photoreceptor and the transfer medium. Thus, the surface potential of the photoreceptor is controlled so as to make its absolute value lower, as it goes further away from a transfer region, to prevent the generation of a peeling discharge. Therefore, the retransfer of the toner to the photoreceptor is suppressed and the occurrence of a deterioration in image quality caused by the scattering of the toner (blurring) at the time of performing the transfer is prevented. |
