<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarization beam splitter which performs the correction of light intensity distribution in an optional direction and the correction of wavefront aberration, makes a monitor light quantity in a front monitoring system and a super resolution effect thereof variable, and which is easily manufactured and has high productivity, and to provide an optical pickup and a phase plate. <P>SOLUTION: The polarization beam splitter includes a polarization conversion part 15 having a rugged array having a period equal to or shorter than that of the wavelength of incident light and formed in a prescribed region including the surface center of a light introducing surface 11a of the polarization beam splitter 10 and a wavefront aberration correcting part having a rugged array having a period equal to or shorter than that of the incident light and formed in a prescribed region in contact with the outer circumference of the polarization conversion part 15. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
