PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a high selectivity and a specific hydrogen productivity in a reforming reaction of alcohol with steam by depositing a catalytically active component on at least one kind of carrying material selected from a group consisting of aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeolite, and mixtures thereof or a mixed oxide. SOLUTION: A catalytically active component is deposited on at least one kind of carrying material selected from a group consisting of aluminum oxide, aluminum silicate, titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, zeolite and mixtures thereof or a mixed oxide. This catalyst contains a 0.5-10 mass % palladium/zinc alloy and 1-50 mass % zinc oxide to the total mass of the catalyst respectively. When methanol is reformed with steam, this catalyst can provide >20 Nm3/kg.h hydrogen producing capacity at 300 deg.C reactor temperature. And the carrying material used is aluminum oxide having >10 m2/g BET specific surface area. |
