PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal transfer image receiving material capable of rapidly forming an image of a highly minute and high image quality by a high output laser with excellent adhesive properties to a thermal transfer material by rapidly vacuum evacuating when laser thermal transfer recorded and a method for laser thermal transfer recording. SOLUTION: The thermal transfer image receiving material comprises an image receiving layer on a support in such a manner that Smooster value of a surface of the layer is 4 mmHg or below, and a centerline mean surface roughness Ra is 0.05 to 0.4 μm. The surface of the layer is preferably roughed by a roughed back layer provided on the surface of the support of the side having no image receiving layer by winding the material in a rolled state. The method for laser thermal transfer recording comprises the steps of irradiating a laminate obtained by laminating a thermal transfer material and the thermal transfer image receiving material with a multi-mode semiconductor laser, and then releasing the laminate to form an image. |
