PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain in high conversion and selectivity without causing metal deposition an allyl compound useful as an intermediate for producing tetrahydrofuran and medicaments and the like by isomerization of an allyl material compound through allyl rearrangement in the presence of a specific catalyst. SOLUTION: This allyl compound is obtained by incorporating a solvent (e.g. acetic acid) with a compound having at the allyl site an acyloxy group of the formula; RAC(O) (RA is a 1-10C alkyl or the like) or hydroxy group (e.g. 3,4-diacetoxybutene-1,3,4-dihydroxybutene-1), a group 8,9 or 10 metal compound (e.g. palladium acetate) and a phosphite compound followed by carrying out a reaction pref. at 50-200 deg.C; wherein the amount of the metal compound to be used is pref. 1×10-8 to 1 molar equivalent based on the raw material and the molar ratio of the phosphite compound to the metal compound is pref. 0.1-10,000. |
