<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for efficiently producing fuel gas, such as hydrogen and methane from cellulose and/or cellulose-based wastes. <P>SOLUTION: The method includes gasifying the cellulose and/or cellulose-based wastes using a supported metal catalyst and high-temperature water to produce the fuel gas. In the method, the cellulose and/or cellulose-based wastes processed with a grinder or the like are reacted with the water and the supported metal catalyst in a reaction vessel, so that the cellulose and/or cellulose-based wastes are converted into the fuel gas, thereby obtaining the fuel gas including hydrogen and methane from the cellulose and/or cellulose-based wastes. Thus, a new environment-conscious fuel gas production technique that produces the fuel gas, such as hydrogen and methane by gasifying the cellulose and/or cellulose-based wastes using the supported metal catalyst, such as a supported ruthenium catalyst and 200-450°C high-temperature water is provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
