The mounting for a strut supporting steerable vehicle wheels comprises a ball bearing (8) whose lower ring (10) is supported by a plate (7) which fits on top of a spiral spring (3). The plate is made from plastic (3) with a metal reinforcement (14). The lower surface of the plate has a seating (13d) for a buffer sleeve (5) which is smaller in diameter than the lower bearing ring. An independent claim is included for a strut fitted with the mounting.
