The circuit has a fixed amplitude current generator (1) for generating fixed amplitude current (I) on an outlet (GO) when the generator is activated through an inlet (GI). A detection unit (2) detects short-circuit defects by comparison of voltage at terminals of an electrical load (Vc) and reference voltage (Vref) that represents defectless operation of the electrical load. A deactivation unit (3) deactivates the amplitude current generator when the short-circuit defects are detected.
