A chair type massage machine (1) has a seat where a person to be treated sits and also has arm rests (4) on which the arms of the person sitting on the seat are placed. The arm rests (4) have arm support walls (21), and the position of the arm support walls relative to the lower arms, upper arms, and shoulders of the person is determined to be below and on the outer sides of such body portions. The arm support walls (21) have openings (24) into which the arms of the person can be inserted and also have treatment sections (30) extending along the arm support walls (21) from the openings (24) and treating the arms of the person.
