<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bioadhesive nanoparticle comprising a biological substrate that attaches to insects, teeth, bones, nails, chitin, feathers, scales, mucous membranes, skins, hairs, plant tissues, etc., and a pharmacologically active compound (e.g. a medicinal compound for human or veterinary use, an agricultural chemical (insecticide, herbicide, fertilizer, etc.), a cosmetic agent or a consumer product (colorant, flavoring agent or fragrance)), and methods for production and use of the bioadhesive nanoparticle. <P>SOLUTION: The bioadhesive nanoparticle composition comprises active substance particles having an effective average particle size of about <4,000 nm and at least one cationic surface stabilizer (which prevents aggregation of the nanoparticles) adsorbed to surfaces of the active substance particles.
