摘要 A liquid crystal alignment agent contains a polymer composition, a polysiloxane, and a solvent. The polymer composition is obtained by subjecting a mixture including a tetracarboxylic dianhydride component and a diamine component to a reaction. The diamine component includes first and second diamine compounds. The polysiloxane contains an epoxy-based group. A liquid crystal display element made from the aforesaid liquid crystal alignment agent has reduced ion density.

A liquid crystal alignment agent, comprising: a polymer composition obtained by subjecting a tetracarboxylic dianhydride component and a diamine component to a reaction; a polysiloxane containing an epoxy-based group; and a solvent, wherein said diamine component includes a first diamine compound represented by formula (I): where R12 and R14 are independently selected from the group consisting of R13 represents a C2-C10 alkylene group, R11 is selected from the group consisting of a single bond, methylene, and ethylene, and X represents a C17-C40 monovalent organic group having a steroid skeleton; a second diamine compound represented by formula (II): where R15 is selected from the group consisting ofand R16 represents an organic group of formula (II-1) where each R17 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, fluorine, and methyl, each of R18, R19 and R20 is independently selected from the group consisting of a single bond,and a C1-C3 alkylene, each R21 is independently selected from the group consisting of where each of R23 and R24 is independently selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, fluorine, and methyl, R22 is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, fluorine, a C1-C12 alkyl group, a C1-C12 fluoroalkyl group, a C1-C12 alkoxyl group, —OCH2F′—OCHF2, and —OCF3, k is an integer ranging from 1 to 2, each of 1, m, and n is independently an integer ranging from 0 to 4, each of o, p, and q is independently an integer ranging from 0 to 3 with the proviso that the sum of o, p, and q is equal to or greater than 3, and each of r and s is independently an integer ranging from 1 to 2; and wherein said epoxy-based group of said polysiloxane including functional groups of formula (B-1), formula (B-2), formula (B-3), and the combinations thereof, where A is selected from the group consisting of oxygen, and a single bond, h is an integer ranging from 1 to 3, and i is an integer ranging from 0 to 6 with the proviso that A is a single bond when i is 0, where j is an integer ranging from 0 to 6 where B1 represents a C2-C6 alkylene group, and R32 represents a hydrogen atom or a C1-C6 alkyl group.
