The method for producing workpieces from a material plate (2), comprises mounting the material plate on a carrier (3), cutting individual workpieces from material plate by a laser (5), mechanically and/or chemically removing a frame (7) from carriers, where the workpieces remain on the carrier, further processing the workpiece remained on the carrier and removing the workpiece from the carrier. The material plate is locally connected with the carrier. The workpieces are detachable after the further processing by a mechanically lateral stress, from the carrier.
