A method of detecting a need for recalibrating a microbolometer is disclosed, said microbolometer comprising a plurality of sensor pixels. The method comprises the steps of: for a predetermined number of monitored sensor pixels monitoring a response signal (S01), storing a first statistical measure (S02) representative of response values read over a first time period, storing a second statistical measure (S03) representative of response values read over a second time period, said second time period being later than said first time period, comparing said first statistical measure to said second statistical measure (S04), and if said second statistical measure differs from said first response range by more than a predetermined change, determining that said microbolometer needs recalibration (S06). A system for detecting a need for recalibration is also disclosed, as well as a method and a system for recalibrating a microbolometer. |
