1. A steering apparatus comprising:
a steering shaft to which a steering member is connected, the steering shaft being extendable in an axial direction; a column jacket by which the steering shaft is rotatably supported, the column jacket being extendable in the axial direction, and the column jacket including an outer jacket and an inner jacket that are fitted to each other so as to be slidable relative to each other in the axial direction for telescopic adjustment; and an engaging member having a base end fixed to the inner jacket, wherein: an inner peripheral surface of the outer jacket includes
a guide groove with which the engaging member is engaged, the guide groove extending in the axial direction, and the guide groove being configured to guide axial movement of the inner jacket via the engaging member while rotation of the inner jacket is restricted due to engagement of the engaging member with the guide groove, anda stopper provided at an end of the guide groove, the stopper being configured to restrict disconnection of the inner jacket from the outer jacket when being engaged with the engaging member; and the guide groove has a bottom portion that faces a distal end of the engaging member. |
