<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carrier immobilizing the subject bacteria capable of being readily treated, manifesting excellent decoloring activities in a large scale plant for generating fresh water or a plant for treating waste water by separating and preserving only a bacterial strain effective for decoloring from bacteria phase in an activated sludge and immobilizing the strain. SOLUTION: The objective carrier immobilizing decoloring bacteria for treating organisms is obtained by propagating a strain obtained by separating and preserving only a bacterial strain effective for decoloring from bacteria phase in an activated sludge, and immobilizing the strain on a carrier such as granular polyvinyl alcohol particles (having 2-10 mm particle diameter) obtained by coating a fine powdery active carbon. The bacterial strain is readily treated because the strain can be preserved by freezing, and an excellent decoloring effect is obtained when the carrier immobilizing the decoloring bacteria is applied to a large scale plant for generating fresh water, a plant for treating waste water, etc., because the preserved bacterial strain can be cultured, propagated and immobilized on the carrier according to the requirement. At least one kind of microorganisms selected from Enterobacter cloacae, Aeromonas caviae, Flavobacterium indologenes, Pseudomonas fluorescens, Bacillus cereus, etc., is preferably used as the decoloring effective bacterial strain.</p> |
