The tubular core, for winding materials into a roll, is of metal with a coating of Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene), with a heated inner core and an inner cooling system. When winding the material, the core surface is heated briefly during or after winding, to fuse the initial wound layer, and then it is cooled rapidly to set the molten layer. The tubular core, for winding materials into a roll, uses cold air or a coolant fluid to bring down the temperature. The wound roll can slide off the core, held in place by the fused initial wound layer. When the material is used, the fused section is discarded for disposal by the type of material.
