A material for photovoltaic film for use in dye-sensitized solar cells, which is inexpensive and can solve problems caused by the use of sensitizing dyes constituted of an organic substance; and a solar cell including a photovoltaic film therefrom. In particular, photovoltaic film (30) comprising photocatalyst-coated grains comprising inorganic material grains, titanium dioxide grains covering the surface of inorganic material grains and lithium grains adhering to the inorganic material grains and/or titanium dioxide grains. The photocatalyst-coated grains are those obtained by first mixing together an aqueous solution, the aqueous solution produced by mixing titanium hydroxide gel with aqueous hydrogen peroxide, powder of the above inorganic material grains and water to thereby obtain a mixture liquid; mixing the mixture liquid with an aqueous solution of lithium chloride to thereby obtain a second mixture liquid; allowing the second mixture liquid to stand still so as to obtain a product of inorganic material grains having the surface thereof coated with titanium hydroxide; and firing the product. The thus obtained photocatalyst-coated grains are formed into a paste with the use of a binder, and applied onto a conductive glass plate to thereby form a thin film.
