PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lamp having an arc tube optimized to be used in the vertical attitude. SOLUTION: An arc lamp (100) includes an optically transparent main body (130) having a first and a second end (102), (104). A first reed assembly (116) is arranged along with the first end part (102) and a second reed assembly (128) is arranged along with the second end part. A first rotation face (142) is formed at the first end part and a second rotation face (144) different from the first rotation face (142) is formed at the second end part. At least either the first rotation face or the second rotation face is formed at the corresponding end part of the first and second end parts by pinching the main body (130).
