PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealed battery in which the reliability of the operation of a split vent is achieved, and the content hardly pops up when the split vent is operated. SOLUTION: A sealed battery has an arcuate battery case 1, and a circular sealing pad 2 for sealing the top surface thereof. The sealing pad 2 is provided with a split vent 7. The split vent 7 has a thin-walled portion 12 that is designed to split if the internal pressure of the battery is greater than a predetermined value by providing grooves 10, 11 on the front side and the back side of the sealing pad 2, respectively. The thin-walled portion 12 extends arcuately in the shape that becomes concentric with the peripheral edge of the sealing pad 2. A vent angleθ1 between imaginary straight lines that connect the center O of the sealing pad 2 and the both ends of the split vent 7 is set to 90°to 150°, respectively. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
