<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting microbial cells which detects the microbial cells in a sample containing or probably containing the microbial cells and is enhanced in accuracy by using a fluorescent indicator at lower cost in comparison with conventional methods that have been known, and provide a microbial cell counter. <P>SOLUTION: The method for detecting microbial cells is to contact the fluorescent indicator and a luminosity sensitizer to the microbial cells to increase fluorescent intensity, use a small and low cost power source 3 and enhance measuring sensitivity by increasing the fluorescent intensity of signals.
