A liquid crystal display(LCD) device and a control method thereof are provided to improve image quality of the LCD device by preventing pixels from being under-charged. A liquid crystal display device includes a liquid crystal panel(DP) and a display control circuit(CNT). Plural pixels are arranged in a matrix form on the liquid crystal panel. The display control circuit selects rows in sequence, synchronously with the horizontal period of a synchronous signal and drives the pixels in the selected row according to the pixel data obtained every horizontal period. The display control signal includes a clock generator, a period detector, and a driving period adjuster. The clock generator generates a reference clock signal of a certain frequency. The period detector detects the length of the horizontal period as the number of pulses of the reference clock signal. The driving period adjuster adjusts a row selection time based on the detected pulse number from the period detector.
