PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display system for reducing load of a server and shortening retrieval processing time of a landmark by improving operability of a user in display of a retrieval result of map information service. SOLUTION: A client terminal separately displays information of each landmark existing in a plurality of designated areas at each area. In addition, the client terminal receives the landmark of the periphery of the designated area from the server, and temporarily stores it. When modification of the area is received, or when the retrieval result is small, or the like, the landmark in the periphery is displayed without inquiring the server. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
