PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece position detection system for accurately detecting the position of a workpiece that is transferred to a working area. SOLUTION: The workpiece position detection system 8 takes in position detection signals from fixed transmitters 6a-6b, received respectively with each receiver 4a and 4b provided on the workpieces 3a and 3d via a wireless LAN modem 7, calculates the positions of the receivers 4a and 4b, respectively on the basis of different information of receiving timing of the position detection signals from the fixed transmitters 6a-6b received, respectively by the receivers 4a and 4b, taking in the position detection signals from transmitters 5a and 5b received respectively by the receivers 4a and 4b via the wireless LAN modem 7, and detects the positions of the transmitters 5a and 5b from a relative position between the receivers 4a and 4b, calculated on the basis of the different information of the receiving timing of the position detection signals from the transmitter, received respectively by the receivers 4a and 4b.
