<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sensor device for recognition of surface figure which can obtain a higher accuracy in detecting a living body with a small circuit scale. <P>SOLUTION: A variable frequency oscillating section 41 for generating a basic signal 4S having a certain wavelength in accordance with an input wavelength adjustment value 42 is provided in a basic signal generating section 4. Prior to carrying out an A/D converting action in a second A/D converting section 31, such as, for example, during the start of a sensor device 10 for recognition of a surface figure, based on an adjustment action controlling signal 4R from the controlling section 25, a wavelength adjusting action is carried out for adjusting the wavelength of the basic signal 4S.
