A polybiphenyl sulfone polymer that is a polymerization product of at least one aromatic dihydroxy compound and 4,4′-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone, and the polymerization is carried out with a molar excess of the aromatic dihydroxy compound at a molar ratio of the aromatic dihydroxy compound to 4,4′-dichlorodiphenyl sulfone of from 1.01 to 1.05, the polymer with less than 800 ppm content of polymer-bonded chlorine as determined by atomic spectroscopy. |
