The present invention relates to an apparatus and method of road base construction. The mixture is a blend of Run-Of-Station (ROS) fly ash, a by-product of coal combustion, and road base materials for mechanically stabilising the material. In particular, the present invention is 5 intended to be applied to fines deficient road bases (less than 10% passing the 75iam screen), or materials having a Plastics Index exceeding the limit of 6. In a preferred form of the invention, 8% fly ash and water is blended, in a controlled manner, with a road base material to form a homogeneous mixture. |
