Disclosed are: a gene comprising a polynucleotide selected from the polynucleotides (a) to (c) shown below; a method for producing an enzyme encoded by the gene; and a method for producing a methylated product using the enzyme: (a) a polynucleotide comprising the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1; (b) a polynucleotide which can hybridize with a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence complementary to the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 under stringent conditions and encodes a polypeptide having an activity of a methyltransferase enzyme; and (c) a polynucleotide which comprises a polynucleotide comprising a nucleotide sequence having a 64% or higher homology to the nucleotide sequence depicted in SEQ ID NO:1 and encodes a polypeptide having an activity of a methyltransferase enzyme.
