The cooking control uses a sonic sensor for measuring the level of sound caused by steam escaping from the closed cooking container, to provide the automatic regulation of supply of heat and hence the cooking process. The signal provided by the sound sensor is combined with that provided by a temperature sensor, the sound level checked by switching out the motors for the air circulation fan and the rotary turntable and the magnetron before obtaining a second measurement of the sound level, when the first measurement is above a given sound level.
